The day of Gurudev. The full moon day of Ashada masam (July-August) is celebrated as the Guru Purnima.
The word Guru is derived from two words, 'Gu' and 'Ru'. The Sanskrit word "Gu" means darkness or ignorance. "Ru" denotes the remover of that darkness. Therefore one who removes darkness and brightens everything is a Guru. On this day, disciples pay respect to their Guru.
